HNTAS Readiness

Structured preparation for the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme.

DESNZ published draft HNTAS technical specifications for existing heat networks. GESTI helps operators prepare against that developing framework by organising source-linked monitoring records, meter documentation, and practical remediation plans for competent review.

Important Note: The drafts remain subject to change until finalisation. GESTI does not provide HNTAS certification, statutory assessment, or guaranteed compliance. We help organise engineering records for review by the operator and its appointed assessor.

Navigating the draft framework

The draft framework sets clear milestones for existing networks. We assist operators in gathering the physical evidence and records required to progress through these stages.

Milestone Readiness Review

Structure work around the draft pathway from initial records and Energy Centre review through improvement planning, consumer connections, and Milestone 4 readiness evidence.

Performance Improvement Plans

Define monitoring points, read frequencies, and a structured Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) linked to measured issues and accountable remediation actions.

Evidence & Remediation Workflows

Organise maintenance, meter, condition, KPI, and corrective-action records, including the draft minimum three-month KPI evidence window where applicable.

Structured Evidence Pack for Review

Meter configuration logs: Records supporting competent review of sizing, installation and manufacturer requirements.

Time-series performance data: Auditable, half-hourly records of temperatures and flows to support KPI assessment.

Condition surveys: Photographic and measured evidence of insulation quality and plant condition.

Action tracking: A clear log of identified faults, assigned owners, and dates of remediation.

Moving beyond spreadsheets

HNTAS readiness requires a robust chain of evidence. Managing meter data, maintenance logs, and improvement plans across multiple networks via disconnected spreadsheets introduces risk.

We combine our plant-room engineering surveys with the GESTI PULSE platform to maintain a governed evidence record for review.
